Schwa Lyrics

Alexander

Lyricist: Ed McGee
Vocalist: Ed McGee
(Alexander!) Well, you laugh at me,
	(Alexander!) but they're after me...so I run.

Alexander starts to ponder, wander and meander floor to floor.

(Alexander!) Well, you laugh at me,
	(Alexander!) but they're after me...so I run.

Hallways all with open doors always follow corridors to more.

Whispers slip through keyholes near
and shivers grip his soul with fear.
Voices lead to visions vague
and there's no choice but, derision, take
	from those who disbelieve
	in the ghosts he sees.

(Alexander!) Well, you laugh at me,
	(Alexander!) but they're after me...so I run.

Alexander's jarred by clatter then a far off pitter-patter sound.

(Alexander!) Well, you laugh at me,
	(Alexander!) but they're after me...so I run.

He lights a lantern on the mantle slanting frightful shadows on the ground.

Whispers slip through keyholes near
and shivers grip his soul with fear.
Voices lead to visions vague
and there's no choice but, derision, take
	from those who disbelieve
	in the ghosts he sees.

"He thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts."

They chase him down the western wing
where he has never really been,
laughing, shouting, taunting him,
and Alexander's caving in.
He ducks into a darkened room
and locks the door behind too soon.
Before him in the eerie gloom
are seven ghosts pale as moon.
Seven apparitions dressed
in negligee and lacy mesh
reaching for his virgin flesh
and the heart within his heaving chest.
He breaks his trance and turns his back,
but his key falls in a floorboard crack.
Hands behind him pull him back,
so he turns around to face attack.
Quickly six just hold him down.
The other one removes her gown,
takes him with a moaning sound,
and disappears, her pleasure found.
Swiftly then, the circle spins,
the next erotic game begins:
the ghost commits her ghastly sin
and disappears into the wind.
One by one, they play the game
till only one mistress remains.
With one last spurt of joy and pain,
Alexander dies to reign.

Whispers slip through keyholes near
and shivers grip their souls with fear.
Voices lead to visions vague
and there's no choice but, derision, take.
	They must now believe
	in the ghost they see.
